Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary Celebration Promises to be Epic
Happy Birthday Walt Disney World! October 1, 2021 marks the resort's 50th anniversary, and 'The Mouse' is celebrating in a major way. Let's take a look at everything headed to The Most Magical Place on Earth later this year.

The major milestone comes with a facelift. Walt Disney World has been gearing up for the celebration with refurbishments happening around the resort. That means fresh paint to make those colors pop all around. We've also seen Cinderella's castle transform with its own brand new paint job earlier this year. It has since been decorated with gold ribbons, royal blue jewels and pearls, and a gleaming 50th anniversary crest. These enchanting updates are setting the tone for what's yet to come. And to fit in with their newly upgraded surroundings, our favorite characters are turning on the charm! Mickey, Minnie and friends will dazzle in all new outfits designed for the anniversary.
Magic Kingdom will complement its renovated look with an all new nighttime spectacular debuting for the celebration. Guests will be delighted by "Disney Enchantment", a firework and projection display to deliver magic to the masses in attendance. Trust us, you'll want to get a good viewing spot for this one.
The hyped 50th anniversary celebration extends to all Walt Disney World theme parks. EPCOT is all in with multiple new additions, including a nighttime spectacular of its own. The new show "Harmonious" will illuminate World Showcase Lagoon using pyrotechnics, fountains, lights and more! New food offerings will be coming to the park as well, with 9 additional Food and Wine booths opening to kick off the celebration. There are even rumblings that we may finally see Space 220 open the same day. We only officially know that the new space-inspired restaurant is coming "this fall", so fingers crossed on this speculation. To top off the festivities EPCOT is unveiling its newest attraction: Remy's Ratatouille Adventure. The 4D ride experience will shrink you down to Remy size as you experience Gusteau's Paris restaurant like never before. Take in the sights and smells as you scurry through the busy kitchen, dining room and walls in this wild ride!
Of course Animal Kingdom park has to bring a little nature to the event. Here you'll experience Disney KiteTails: witness some of our beloved animated animal pals as they soar above the Discovery River Amphitheater in the form of 3D kites. Windcatchers accompany them to the beat of classic Disney songs for your enjoyment.
Walt Disney World rounds out the excitement with 50th anniversary happenings in all four theme parks. The Fab 50 Character Collection consists of 50 golden character sculptures spread across the parks waiting to be discovered by you. So far Disney has announced 21 of the characters to be on the lookout for. The list includes Mickey and friends, Timon and Pumbaa, Cheshire Cat and Figment to name a few. The catalog has been getting updated as information is released, so keep an eye out and your favorites may join in.
Come one, come all to behold a nightly spectacle for the entire family! Walt Disney World has revealed details surrounding their new show "Beacons of Magic" which kicks off along with the anniversary. Each night a select park will transform one of its famous icons into a beacon of light celebrating 50 years of magic. Cinderella's Castle at Magic Kingdom will add a pixie dust sparkle. EPCOT's Spaceship Earth will display a beacon of optimism toward the future. The Hollywood Tower of Terror will resurrect the shimmer of the golden age of imagination on it's usually-terrifying exterior. Animal Kingdom's Tree of Life will summon the magic of nature for all to see with enchanted fireflies. The nightly schedule for "Beacons of Magic" has not been released yet. Be sure to check back on dates for your upcoming trip for some added enjoyment.
